Cross-linked polyethylene, also known as XLPE, is a form of insulation produced by heat and high pressure. One method of manufacturing XLPE insulation is to irradiate the compound. Another method is to use a peroxide chemical cross-linking compound. the most important property of XLPE is the electrical properties it exhibits.
